The Antiques &
Collectibles National Association (ACNA) was established with the founding of
The Antiques & Collectibles Dealers Association (ACDA) in 1991 by Jim &
Yvonne Tucker. After 25 years in corporate insurance and 15 years of collecting,
the Tuckers decided to go into the antiques business full time. Upon doing so,
they found that there was no insurance available to protect them and there was
no association in existence to help develop an insurance program and other benefit
programs they felt were needed by the industry. With the encouragement of other
dealers the concept of ACDA was born. Thus began what is now the largest dealer
association in the world today. A
few years after the dealer association was founded, the collectors needs were
addressed, and at the urging of both dealers and collectors – the National
Association of Collectors (NAC) was founded. Since that time, the National Association
of Antique Malls (NAAM) was formed in 1998 to meet the very unique needs of
the large number of antique malls in the country. The Antique & Collectibles
Show Promoter Association (ACSPA) was also formed in 1998, and is another of
the associations represented to address the needs of this segment of the industry.
In 2005, all the associations were merged together to form Antiques & Collectibles
National Association (ACNA). Suzy Fincannon,
